William “Willie” Macfarlane was born in Aberdeen, Scotland on June 29, 1890. Willie was a Scottish professional golfer who won a U.S. Open as well as 20 other PGA Tour events. Like many golfers of his era, he was a club professional in the United States. In a serendipitous week in 1925, Willie won the U.S. Open at Worcester Country Club in Worcester, Massachusetts. He tied Bobby Jones over seventy-two holes.Willie had a round of 67 which was a U.S. Open record. On the other hand, Bobby Jones
